Community Outreach and Engagement

The University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center is actively collaborating with and working in the community to eliminate cancer disparities.  The Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) Office conducts research and activities driven by how cancer embraces populations throughout Hawaiʻi and the United States Affiliated Pacific Islands, investigating cancer disparities and defining culturally-appropriate interventions to reduce the incidence and mortality from cancer.

This community-engaged approach is crucial to our understanding of the health challenges faced by those we serve, particularly those who suffer from cancer disproportionately. The COE Office structures and evaluates the impact of activities, provides venues for community inclusion in cancer research, builds community partnerships, provides cancer information, and disseminates research findings.
