Research Focus
Dr. Hossain’s lab focuses on developing novel ultrasound-based methods for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. Ultrasound is a low-cost, non-ionizing, and portable imaging modality easily translatable from laboratory-based feasibility studies to clinics. For diagnosis and therapy monitoring, Hossain’s lab is developing Ultrasound Elastography and Doppler method for assessing tissue's vascular and mechanical (i.e., stiffness) properties. In addition to diagnosis, he applies ultrasound for therapy, such as focused ultrasound-induced thermal ablation of cancer and ultrasound-mediated drug delivery. While the current application is on Breast and Pancreatic Cancer, he is also interested in developing ultrasound-based methods for other cancers.
